Pint Privacy Policy

We believe your data belongs to you. Pint is built with a local-first philosophy, ensuring your environment stays private.

1. Zero Data Collection

Pint is a standalone macOS application. Unlike many modern tools, **Pint does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to our servers.** We do not have accounts, we do not track your usage patterns, and we do not know which Homebrew packages you have installed.

2. Local-First Architecture

All operations performed by Pint happen directly on your machine:

  • Package Management: Interaction with Homebrew (formulae, casks, and services) is purely local.
  • Configuration: Any settings or notes you add in Pint are stored locally in your macOS Application Support folder.
  • Logs: Real-time terminal output is displayed for your benefit only and never uploaded.

3. Network Connectivity

Pint only uses your internet connection to:

  • Interact with the Homebrew API to fetch package metadata and version information.
  • Check for application updates (if enabled).

These requests are standard HTTP requests to public repositories and do not include any identifying information about you beyond what is standard in an HTTP header (like your IP address).

4. Your Privacy Rights

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data for you to access, correct, or delete from our servers. You have complete control over Pint's local data—simply deleting the application and its support folders will remove all traces of its use.

5. Third-Party Services

Pint relies on Homebrew (an independent open-source project). Use of Homebrew through Pint is subject to Homebrew's own data practices. We encourage you to review the Homebrew Analytics policy.
